Under the Sea Shells Word Problem Activity Set Review and Giveaway!

*This post is brought to you by Learning Resources.

It's summer time and kids want to play, have fun and avoid anything school related. Parents want their children to have fun, but they also want them to avoid the dreaded "summer slide" when kids tend to forget some of the things they've learned throughout the past school year.

Learning Resources brings together fun and learning, making both parents and their children happy! One product that is new to Learning Resources this year is the Under the Sea Shells Word Problem Activity Set - great for keeping up those math skills!

Word Problems are something that my son tends to struggle with. He finds them confusing and difficult to get through and really doesn't like doing them from a workbook. When I brought out this game, however, he was willing to give it a shot. What we both found was that the game was really great for helping him to "see" a math word problem in a way that he couldn't before.

While these aren't quite on par with where he is in math, I find that it has helped to give him the building blocks for tackling those more difficult problems when we start school back up again. The three levels of math covered are:  Working Within 10, Working Within 20, and Challenging. Addition, subtraction, and finding the missing number are all covered.

My 6 year old daughter, who will be going into 1st grade next year can't quite do these on her own yet, but with my help, she is able to do the level one problems. It's so exciting watching kids learn and grow! It's a good feeling knowing that they won't be falling behind this summer and they aren't looking at math like its a boring subject - but rather as one that can be fun.

Now for a Giveaway!

One lucky winner is going to take home an 'Under the Sea Shells Word Problem Activity Set'. This giveaway is open to those in the U.S. 18+. The giveaway ends July 11, 2014, CST.

  1. The reading mentor would be great for my son (hes 7) with reading, which is something that he struggles with. My 6yr old daughter would enjoy it too. The under the sea game is perfect for them as well, especially throughout the summer to help my son maintain the math skills he's already learned.
