React Mobile was born out of a college students experience being held at gunpoint during a hostage situation. While many would take the experience and struggle with it privately for years, this student decided to take the situation and do something positive with it. Out of the situation he created and app that provides mobile security to the user.
This app, React Mobile, allows people to call for help in a unique way. With just the push of a button, GPS coordinates are sent to emergency contacts, and emails and alerts can be posted to Facebook and Twitter. With our very socially integrated society, this can be a powerful tool!
Being a woman, and even more as a mom, my safety and the safety of my children is something that I take very seriously. Just the other day, I was walking around town in the wee hours of the morning and I watched several police vehicles speed past. It got me to thinking about how I could increase my personal safety. If I had been confronted that morning, I'm not entirely sure what I would have done.
The sad fact is that we just do not know when something bad will happen. Instead of fearing the worst, we can give ourselves and our loved ones peace of mind. Parents of kids going off to college, visiting relatives, or even visiting another country (React Mobile provides support in 39 countries!) can feel more secure, knowing that if a situation arises, they can quickly call for help, alert parents and friends, and show GPS coordinates, even if they are unsure of where they are.
This can be a great parenting tool. Do you let your kids walk home from school, or go to the mall by themselves? Beginning to allow your children the freedom to be on their own a bit more can be nerve-wracking! Many parents have given their children cell phones in case of emergencies, but did you know you can also track their movements in real time with React Mobiles "Follow Me" feature? Not only will you know that they are safe, but you can also be sure that they are where they say they are!
So, you now know how great this app is and you are probably wondering just how much you are going to have to pay for it, right? The answer is: NOTHING! The founders of React Mobile feel so strongly that everyone should have this safety feature that they are giving it away free. You can download it on iTunes or on Google Play.
What a great way to turn a negative experience into something positive that can help so many people! What would you use React Mobile for?
