One thing we learned early on is that it can be difficult to find products specifically for left-handed people. One of the greatest resources I have found has been Lefty's Left Hand Store. They sent me a gift set for review, containing a notebook, scissors, a pen and a ruler.

Did you know that they make left handed notebooks? I didn't! Now that I know, though, it makes so much sense! For a left-handed person to use a right-handed notebook, their wrist must sit on the metal spiral, which can be pretty uncomfortable. It can also make for some very sloppy writing. When my son got to try out the left-handed notebook, he was very excited to finally be able to write unencumbered and I was happy to see his handwriting improve.
As for the scissors, I was curious what a left-handed persons day-to-day experience is in trying to use right-handed gear, and so I tried to use them. I lined up the blade with a line and tried to cut straight. It was an utter failure! My cuts always landed about 2cm to the right, and even when I tried to adjust, I was unable to cut evenly. When my son used them, however, it was perfect! Lefty's makes several different sizes of scissors for each stage of life for a lefty; they even have kitchen and sewing scissors.
Do you remember me telling you that I have learned a lot about lefties in the last few years? Here are some of the interesting things that I have learned:
Lefties tend to be more prone to migraines, insomnia, allergies, stuttering and dyslexia.
Lefties are twice as likely to be male.
Lefties are generally on either extreme end of the intelligence scale.
Lefties recover from strokes faster than right handed people.
Lefties are more likely to choose a creative vocation.
