Happy Grandparents Day!

Today is National Grandparents Day. The day was designated as a National holiday in 1978. Grandparent’s day was started as a means of encouraging American youth to embrace their elders and recognize the value of our elders.

So, to all of you awesome grandparents, "Happy Grandparents Day!"

This Grandparents Day, I would encourage those of you with children to reach out to your kids grandparents. Let them know they are loved, whether by a phone call, or a letter. Another idea is to check out Frecklebox. They have free printable coloring pages so your kids can make something special for their grandparents.

As for us, my kid’s grandparents live too far away for a visit, so we are going to be making a short video to email to each set of grandparents. It will be a chance for them to “see” the kids and for the kids to tell them how much they love them.

Are you doing something for Grandparents Day?

  1. My children celebrating grandparents day Friday at school. We moved to a new school in a rural area and unfortunatly the school doesn't let all grades celebrate it (which in st. louis they do). Although they dont celebrate it (only 1st grade does), gma and papa still went up there to eat lunch with them.
